Happy New Year!

With the ringing of the new year, it’s always a good idea to get our goals in place and determine what we want this year.

The problem we face is our goals are often bigger than our motivations. Just look at the gym in January, it’s packed till about the second week in, after that it’s just a matter of time before the regulars take over again. I know this because I’m one of those regulars. It’s every year, but it’s also human nature. We want results but do to other influences we tend to fall off the wagon very quickly.

No one said results were easy. If it were, we would all have perfect bodies and all be millionaires. We know that isn’t the case, so here we are, right?

Motivation is something that everyone wants to have, but it is something that easily evades many of us. Everyone, at some point, has struggled with maintaining their motivation when they are working toward accomplishing their goals. It’s human nature to want to do what is easy, and achieving our goals can be difficult. Motivation is like a muscle, and the only way to strengthen your motivation is through practice. Here are five ways you can increase your motivation to accomplish your goals and achieve success.

Start with Small Goals

It’s great to have big goals and big ambitions, but you need first to start small. You can achieve smaller goals over a shorter period and will help you keep your motivation. With small, measurable goals, the end is always in sight, which means that you receive the payoff much quicker. Along with setting small milestones, you have to make sure that the goals you set are measurable.

Figure out what you really want

What is important to you? Why do you want that? What does life look like when you have it? Start answering those questions, see what you come up with. Make sure you are the one wanting these things and determine why that is so. Doing something for someone else is great, but you really need to have that vision in order to be successful.

Develop positive thinking

Thinking positively will get you far. Although it’s not everything, it’s a great start. is nothing more than a verbal statement that helps to reinforce a positive mindset. Mantras can be extremely useful when it comes to keeping your spirits high and your motivation up. You should come up with a statement that resonates with you. Go a step further, carry this with you, in your wallet, purse, pocket is fine, but you want to see if regularly.

Each day I go through a start up to success! Start your mornings off repeating your positive thinking aloud to yourself. Write down you goals for the day, for the week, even the year. Anything to get you fired up and  out the door ready to rock!

Repeat to others

It’s easy to slack off and lose motivation as an individual. We are all quick to procrastinate, let ourselves off the hook, and find justifications for giving up on our goals. Commit publicly to your goals by sharing them with your family and friends, even to your Facebook friends if you wish. Not only will this provide a support system for you, but it will also help you feel more accountable for reaching your goals. Also, show your progress, let others know how you are doing, yes even the struggles, especially the struggles.

Remake Your Routines and Rituals

When it comes to increasing your motivation, it is essential that you create daily rituals that will help to keep you inspired and moving forward toward achieving your goals. Since these rituals can differ from person to person, you’ll need to experiment until you find something that works for you. Whatever daily routine that you choose, you want to make sure that it encourages peace and fulfillment.

Face Your Fears

Fears come in all shapes and sizes and are one of the biggest reasons why people give up on their dreams. Facing your fears will give you a great sense of accomplishment, and it will allow you to broaden your horizons. You can only get rid of your fears by conquering them, so you should meet them head-on.

If you want to increase your motivation and achieve success, then you should incorporate these five steps for improving your motivation into your daily life. Remember, you can do this. The power is within, so stay motivated to what is important to you and make 2020 your best year yet!
